Green is where the Heart Is for May 29, 2013

“Twenty Years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you
didn't do than by the ones you did do.” ~Mark Twain

Jodi Ohl is a woman brave enough to follow her passion and dreams.  Her career as a retail manager successfully transitioned to bank manager but that kind of success does not come without an equal amount of stress.
Her job combined with a series of life changing circumstances prompted her to fall back on a coping mechanism which allowed her to change her life by expressing herself through her art.
One of those excruciating situations was a house fire started during a cooking accident.
This gave Ohl the opportunity to turn the worst time of her life into an ‘aha’ moment and a new beginning.  In Oct 2011 she took the leap, quit her job and became a full time artist.
She soon began writing and was picked up by several publications like ‘Cloth, Paper Scissors’ and ‘Somerset Studio’s’ and has been published 18 times to date.
Her art is shown in 12 different galleries across NC and she facilitates art retreats fully utilizing her gifts and talents.
On Thursday evening June 6th from 6:30 – 8:30 her show “Coastal Reverie” will be begin its display in the gallery at Artful Living Group.  This exhibit is full of color, fun and positivity.
It is a daydream medley of abstract realism that takes one back to a time full of happy emotions.  The artist will be at the opening to share her passion.
On Friday following the show she will be teaching a class in the store sharing her technique of creating a journal by using a photograph, word or phrase that pops into the head and then watching as it becomes documented on the pages as the journey flows through the heart.  She uses word prompts or phrases, taking the participants back in time to remember experiences using an influx of color combinations and photographs.
This ‘lazy days of summer journal’ will be created by Jodi and $49 includes all the materials accept any photos, letters or papers that are special to you to incorporate into your journal.  Call the store 458-7822 to reserve your space.
Jodi took the leap by leaving ‘security’ to regain ‘sanity.’  She now teaches classes online reaching students in Australia, Alaska, United Kingdom and other far reaching places.  She is a woman who has proven you can be successful doing what you love and living green means just that.  xo mo
