Island Gazette’s Volunteer of the Week for the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher for April 11, 2012

Volunteer of the Week - Sixteen-year-old Anna Parrish REALLY loves volunteering at the Aquarium. She loves it so much, in fact, that she drives over 3 ? hours from Climax, NC just to volunteer her time. The Southeast Guilford high school junior has volunteered over the last couple of years and enjoys making day trips down to the Aquarium. As a junior volunteer, Anna often gets asked some very unusual questions. She was once asked if our albino American alligator has different sized teeth than other alligators and if the Loggerhead turtle in the Sea Turtle exhibit is real. Anna’s favorite animal at the aquarium is the octopus and she looks forward sharing her love for animal-life with others when she becomes a teacher or biologist in the future.  If you would enjoy sharing your time as an Aquarium volunteer, contact Suzanne at (910) 458-8257, ext. 232.
