Kure Beach, NC—Alligators bobbing for apples, spooky garden trails, bats in the eel cave–find these and more at Trick or Treat Under the Sea this Halloween season. The popular aquatic-themed festival will be held at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 and Thursday, Oct. 25. Now in its 11th year, Trick or Treat Under the Sea offers fun for the whole family! Dress up in costume (no masks for adults, please) and get in on the fun. Scoop up candy and prizes, play Halloween-themed games, treat yourself to face-painting and enjoy two magic shows per night by No Sleeves Magic Camp. Don’t miss the spooky divers swimming with the sharks and rays in the Cape Fear Shoals habitat. Those looking for an extra thrill are invited to explore two sets of haunted gardens – one for the very brave and another for more cautious goblins. Local merchants, costumed for the event, will distribute treats and coupons to trick-or-treaters. Judges will also recognize the merchant booth with the most imaginative, spooky and environmentally-friendly theme each evening. Begin your fun by meeting live animals and looking into the future with kid-friendly fortunes. Those haunted by hunger can dine at the Sharkbites snack bar on the outdoor deck. Advance tickets available online http://www.ncaquariums.com/fort-fisher and at the Aquarium beginning Oct. 1, $8 each. Children 2 and younger are free. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Please note: Umbrella strollers only. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Be green and bring your own trick-or-treat bag. NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is located a short drive from Wilmington, just south of Kure Beach, near the mouth of the Cape Fear River, on U.S. 421. The site is less than a mile from the Fort Fisher ferry terminal. General information: ncaquariums.com/fort-fisher.
