Cabbagehead Jelly. Margined Sea Star. Sand Tiger Shark. A new book, “North Carolina’s Amazing Coast: Natural Wonders from Alligators to Zoeas,” features fun facts and illustrations of these animals and many more. The collection includes 100 short features of flora, fauna and natural history with a coastal connection.
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will host a book-signing of “North Carolina’s Amazing Coast” Tuesday, July 30 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with co-author Terri Kirby Hathaway.
Hathaway has served as the Marine Education Specialist for North Carolina Sea Grant since October 2003, sharing her knowledge of ocean sciences and aquatic environments with educators statewide. Prior to that, she served as the Education Curator at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island for more than 18 years. A limited number of books are available for purchase at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher Gift Shop. NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is located a short drive from Wilmington south of Kure Beach, on US 421. The site is less than a mile from the Fort Fisher ferry terminal.
Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day). Admission: $8 adults ages 13-61; $7 62 and older; $6 ages 3-12.
