Students from New Hanover County Schools Win at 2012 State Science Fair

New Hanover County Schools students and other students from across the state recently competed in the 2012 North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair in Raleigh, NC.  Their research projects were among those selected by the regional science and engineering fair to attend the state level where students from New Hanover County Schools earned several honors.
Kevin Frink of Isaac Bear Early College High School (IBECHS) was selected as first place winner in the Senior Physics Division earning him a plaque and cash gift.  Brittany Williams of Laney High School won honorable mention in the Senior Physics Division earning her a medallion.  Elizabeth Kinsey of Anderson Elementary earned the Elementary Exemplary Project award for the Divisional Elementary level for her Hurricanes versus Beaches project and received a plaque and cash award.
Special awards were also given to projects that met guidelines stipulated by the awarding organization or agency.  Winners received a medal and certificate and include: Kevin Frink, IBECHS, Special US Navy Naval Science Award, Special US Army Award, and the Grand INTEL ISEF Senior Grand Award. Richard Everhart, IBECHS, Special US Air Force Award and the Special US Army Award. Brittany Williams, Laney, Special US Air Force Award. Matthew Stanbury and Christine Chow, IBECHS, Special American Meteorological Society Award.
