Federal Point Historic Preservation Society’s Holds Lower Cape Fear River Cruise

This past Sunday local history buffs boarded the Royal Winner Princess II for the Federal Point Historic Preservation Society’s  “Lower Cape Fear River Cruise.” The guided tour included a brief history and locations of over 55 known historic sites from Carolina Beach Marina, through Snow’s Cut and down to the mouth of the Cape Fear River.  The cruise was narrated by Dr. Chris Fonvielle of the UNC-W History Department, Richard Lawernce retired from the North Carolina Underwater Archaeology Lab at Fort Fisher, Jack Fryar, publisher of Dram Tree Books, John Golden, as blockade-runner Captain Roberts and Leslie Bright retired from the North Carolina Underwater Archaeology Lab at Fort Fisher.  This event supports the Federal Point History Center located at 1121-A N. Lake Park Blvd., (Just south of the CB Town Hall). Please visit them Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
