Beach Music Fest Brings Masses to Carolina Beach

Coastal Music Lovers came in droves as early as 8:30 am to find that premier spot on the Beach for the annual beach festival ritual.  Gates opened early to help ease the huge crowds waiting to get on the Beach awaiting The Craig Woolard Band beginning at 11:00 am.  The Band of Oz and the Jim Quick & Coastline rounded out the music pleasures for the afternoon. Throughout the day, the masses danced, shagged and moved to the Carolina Beach Music beat forming a “Love Train” as long as the Boardwalk and line dancing in unison to classic Beach Music favorites.  There were at least 4 generations of music lovers spread across the Beach, occasionally dipping in the Atlantic when the sun got too hot.
The 6th Annual Shag competition closed out the evening at The SeaWitch Café & Tiki Bar where hundreds enjoyed the friendly competition in four categories, where thousands of dollars in prize money was awarded. The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of the sponsors, the incredible volunteers, the Town of Carolina Beach Operations Department and mostly the participants for coming out to enjoy another beautiful Pleasure Island day at the Beach.  See you next year!
