New Hanover County School News: Educators of the Year

2012-13 Elementary Teacher of the Year - Leah Southerland.

2012-13 High School Teacher of the Year - Julie Sollosi.

2012-13 NHCS Educator of the Year -Sabrina Hill-Black.

2012-13 NHCS Principal of the Year Maria Greene.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2012, the New Hanover County Board of Education and the Wells Fargo Foundation honored 41 teachers and one principal at the Educator of the Year banquet held at Ashley High School. At the banquet, there were approximately 165 in attendance, which included Board of Education members, senior staff, school administrators, teachers, and representatives from Wells Fargo.  Again this year, guests were entertained by pianist and music teacher Jeremy Milligan of Holly Shelter Middle School.  The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Educators of the Year. 
 The Teachers of the Year named were: Elementary School – Leah Southerland, 3rd Grade Teacher at Bellamy Elementary School; Middle School – Sabrina Hill-Black, Teacher/Avid Coordinator at Williston Middle School; High School – Jodi Sollosi, Social Studies Teacher at Laney High School. The 2012-2013 New Hanover County Schools Teacher of the Year is Sabrina Hill-Black. Maria Greene, principal at College Park Elementary School, was named the 2012-2013 Principal of the Year. Each winner was cited for their outstanding contributions to education and presented with awards from the NHC Board of Education and Wells Fargo Foundation.
 Maria Greene and Sabrina Hill-Black  will go on to represent New Hanover County Schools at the regional level and possibly advance to the state level.
