Joy of a Child Mission Outreach Performs “The Scrooge & the Stooge That Almost Stole Christmas”

Sunday evening hundreds packed the First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach for the Joy of a Child Mission Outreach’s performance of “The Scrooge and the Stooge That Almost Stole Christmas!!” The story written by Lilli Reppel and Alis Burge featured local young performers including Olivia Skinner, Madison O’Leary, Nick Latta, Lilli, Arianna and Gloria Treppel, Alis Burge, Shade and India Setzer, along with Zachary Guy. Opening music was performed by Miss Emily Burdette who sang from her album entitled “Time to Speak”, Yarrow Carmichael-Rice belted out a beautiful rendition of “I Think it’s Gonna Rain” and Mrs. Dara Newberry finished up with a beautiful piece. Dara opened the show by explaining the importance of the Joy of a Child Mission Outreach and how this year the mission is supporting fourteen families with thirty-five children. The program provides Christmas to children, “There is a lot of unrecognized poverty on this Island and unless you are aware that is exists, it is easy to pass by.”
The performance was a huge hit and showcased a very talented group of youngsters. In addition, Mr. DeWayne Guy’s Grinch was a stellar performance and Mr. Matt Treppel played a phenomenal archangel “busting a move” at the end of the show. The show directors included Molly Painter (Jesus Without the Junk), Dara Newberry and Mrs. Lisa Casey.
