The winners of the 2013 Federal Point Lodge #753 raffle to support Masonic charities have been chosen!
The 1st Place winner of a Stainless Steel Wilmington Gas Grill, "ready to use", was Captain Ken Anthiny of the Carolina Beach Fire Department.  Captain Anthiny was delighted to win, as he was ready to replace an older grill.  He had purchased tickets last year as well as this year, for the same reason, so his win was doubly rewarding!
Second Place winner of a Kitchen Aide Mixer was Laura Smith, who was at work in downtown Wilmington when notified of her win.  She said she was very happy to win such a great mixer.
Third Place winner of an 11-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set was Wayne Jones of Raleigh, NC, who purchased a ticket while visiting his family in Kure Beach.  He was happy to win and plans to give the cookware set to his daughter, who recently returned to Raleigh.
This is the second year the Lodge has used a raffle to gain funds to support the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, NC, and the White-stone Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro, NC.  Last year $1600 in profits from the first raffle was contributed to those two organizations.  While there was only one prize in 2012, second and third place prizes were added in 2013 to attract more ticket buyers.  At least $1600 will be donated again this year.
The Lodge wishes to thank Wilmington Grill Co. for their continued support in providing the 1st Place prize at a reduced price for our charity raffle, and Atlantic Appliance Co. for their continued support and donation of our 3rd Place prize.  The Lodge also wishes to thank the community for its support and we look forward to a new prize structure for our 2014 raffle!
Federal Point Lodge #753, A.F.& A.M., was chartered in 1976, and is located at 5th and Harper Avenues in Carolina Beach.  Meetings are on Tuesday evenings, and all Masons are invited to visit, especially Masons from other areas vacationing on Pleasure Island. Submitted by Ed Jones, Master of the Lodge.
