The Fort Fisher #2325 Chapter of The United Daughters of The Confederacy presented the reference book, "The Civil War Chronicle" edited by Dr. William Davis, to the Ashley High School Librarian, Mrs. Joann Absi. In the absence of Mrs. Pamela Whiteside, Second Vice President in charge of Education, the book was presented by Mrs. Patricia Gray Bolander, President of The Fort Fisher Chapter. Also in attendance were Mrs. James R. Austin, Chapter Treasurer, and her son, Jacob Austin, a Freshman at Ashley, who has been very helpful when the Chapter volunteers at Fort Fisher historic site during the January Anniversary. The Chapter will be represented in Richmond at the "Massing of the Flags", and at the 100th Anniversary of the commemoration of "Jackson Circle" and the Sir Moses Ezekiel's statue in Arlington. Moses Ezekiel was a VMI student who was one of the VMI Cadets at New Market, and later designed and sculpted the Statue, "Virginia Mourning Her Dead", for the Memorial and burial site of VMI Cadets who died at New Market. He asked to be buried by his Monument at Arlington.
