The 5th Annual Island Women Yard Sale will be held Saturday, April 14 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 206 Fayetteville Ave., Carolina Beach.
Notorious for great prices, this year’s fundraiser will feature summer clothing for children and adults, furniture, linens, appliances, books and household items. Sale of homemade baked goods and coffee are also popular.
“Island Women will gladly accept donations from the public for our yard sale,” said Leslie Lewis, committee chair. “We are strict, however, about the quality of contributions. We want gently worn clothing. Sturdy furniture. Working appliances.” This year Pleasure Island Storage has very generously donated the use of one of their storage units to Island Women. Donations to the yard sale will be accepted at their facility at 517 Lewis Road, Carolina Beach. Donations may be dropped off from 8 a.m. until noon on the six consecutive Saturdays leading up to the sale: March 10, 17, 24, 31, and April 7. Electronics will not be accepted (computer monitors, VCRs, radios, TVs, etc.)
Island Women supports the local food pantry with monetary and food donations. Members participate in fundraisers such as the LoTide Run and the annual Big Beach Sweep.
Island Women promotes recycling at major island events such as the Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival, Chowder Cook-off and Beer Festival. Members are seen at local affairs in funny hats that educate the public about what can and cannot be recycled.
Island Women work in support of Christmas by the Sea by decorating the Carolina Beach Gazebo for the seasonal event.
