Katie B. Hines Senior News and Events

Everyone was so pleased with our High Tea and Quilt Party last year; there will be another High Tea this year. The theme this year will be Tea and Art.  There will be displays of art   (especially of our home grown artists) and different kinds of workmanship such as crafts, canning chair seats, baskets, etc. There will no charge to display your works. You can start making reservations for space to share your talents.
Set aside May 12th for this fun time. Further information will be in our May and June News letter. Last year Jan Truelove and Ann Marvin did a terrific job we have begged them to help us this year.
We have purchased a new TV for our main dinning room. A special thanks to the ladies Auxiliary of the Pleasure Island American Legion Post129 for their donations of $200.00 towards our new TV. THANKS, THANKS.
We have set up the old TV for an exercising group which will start in March. See the calendar for days and times. This is a new project and hope many will participate.
The Center has also started a much need kitchen update. We completed a partial replacement of kitchen cabinets. A new sink and plumbing, a new disposal, and new flooring plus a new sink and cabinet in the back room were part of the update.
We would like to thank Max Cooley, Bill Stroupe, Bob Williams, Sarah Williams, Reggie Barnes and especially Margaret Dowling for all the labor hours they have put in. Also special thanks to Celia Sayles, We would like to replace the rest of the old cabinets and are accepting any donation for this project. We goal is complete this remodel by April 1, 2012.
St. Patrick Day, a day we all have a little Irish in us, lunch celebration will be Thursday March 15. Please sign-up if you have not done so seating is limited. Patrick was the one mostly responsible for the conversion of Ireland to Christianity         and Saint Patrick was Saint Patrick! In other words, probably the first acclaimed saint.
Need a good book? We will be selling cook books, see Grace for your purchase.
We will also have them on sale at the pancake breakfast.
