On Sunday, September 23rd from 6 PM to 8 PM at Michael’s Seafood Restaurant in Carolina Beach, a reception will be held to introduce the 2012 Island of Lights Christmas Card and Ornament. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided and a cash bar will be available.
Please come and meet the artist whose design was chosen for this year’s card, Barbara Bayer. She can tell you about her design. Barbara specializes in watercolors and illustrations. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from East Carolina University. As an award winning artist, Barbara has participated in numerous juried shows and competitions. Combining her fine art and design expertise, Barbara has created over fifty commissioned original watercolors for stationery collections. Her works have been used in annual reports, national periodicals, greetings cards, chamber of commerce brochures, culinary and historical books, packaging design and a wide variety of products for the giftware industry.Barbara’s art always displays a wealth of experience and refined attention to detail whether working with corporations, small businesses or community events. Mary Jo Madden who has hand painted all ornaments since 2001 will also be on hand. She is a talented tole painter and has been selling her work locally for many years.
The cards and ornaments can be purchased at the reception and the artists will be available to sign them for you. They are also currently for sale at the following businesses in Carolina Beach: the Checkered Church, Island Tackle and Hardware, touché, The Frame Shop, Sumthin Beachie, and the Shoppes at Squigleys. The cards are $10 per pack of twelve and the ornaments are $14 each.
