Kure Beach Community Center Fall Garden Lecture Series
"Fall Pruning" October 27th

On Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 10.00 - 11.00 a.m., Kure Beach Community Center will host a lecture on "Fall Pruning" presented by Jon Wooten, Master Gardener, from the North Carolina Cooperative Extension's Speakers Bureau Programs. Pruning is a gardening practice that is frequently misunderstood and incorrectly practiced; consequently, a basic understanding of how a plant responds to pruning will help you do a better job. The lecture will address the best methods and tools for pruning trees and shrubs to help average homeowners manage their landscapes. Plants respond differently to pruning and key factors for successful results are types of pruning cuts, techniques, and timing. The lectures are presented by using
PowerPoint slides, which provide a topic overview with enough technical detail to be helpful, yet not overwhelming. A question-and- answer period will also be conducted. Although there is no charge to attend this lecture, a donation would be appreciated to help defray costs. Coffee will be provided. The general public is welcome. The Kure Beach Community Center is located at 118 North 3d Avenue in Kure Beach. For additional information, call the Center's Message Line at 910-450-8944 and calls will be returned.
