“Children Helping Children”

I would like you to meet the children of First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach, NC.  This past summer Lillie Treppel and Alis Burge tucked themselves away in their room one Sunday and when they emerged, they had a play titled The Scrooge and the Stooge That Almost Stole Christmas.  Little did they know it would be used as a catalyst to benefit the underprivileged children of Carolina Beach.  The children performing in this play are Olivia Skinner, Madison O’Leary, Nick Latta, Lilli, Arianna and Gloria Treppel, Alis Burge, Shade and India Setzer, along with Zachary Guy.  In addition, Mr. DeWayne Guy will be playing the Grinch, Mr. Matt Treppel will be playing an archangel, and Dr. Jimmy Brown will be performing along with the Praise Choir.  Solos will be performed by Mrs. Yarrow Carmichael-Rice and Mrs. Dara Newberry.  Molly Painter (Jesus Without the Junk), Dara Newberry and Mrs. Lisa Casey will be directing. We have 14 families with thirty-five children to bring Christmas to this year…so far.
It would be a dream realized to know that when I drive home on Christmas Eve that each child received something for Christmas and that none were left behind.  There is a lot of unrecognized poverty on this Island and unless you are aware that is exists, it is easy to pass by states Molly Painter.  Make this special benefit play a part of your hustle and bustle this season on December 9, 2012 @ 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach located at 409 North Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach, N.C.  28428.  Step up now and be a part of “Children Helping Children.” If you cannot make the performance but feel a tug on your heart to help you can make a monetary contribution by mail payable to Joy of a Child (Attn: Molly Painter).  100% of any gift will be used for children who need our help or you can select an individual gift request from the Christmas box that will be made available the evening of the performance. Everyone is welcome to attend!  See you there for some Ho, Ho, Ho’s!!!!!
