Thalian Association presents Wilmington Premiere of Xanadu: The Musical

Thalian Association, the Official Community Theater of North Carolina, presents the Wilmington premiere of Xanadu: The Musical.  The production, directed by Tom Briggs with music direction by Jonathan Barber and choreography by Mary Beth Henderson, runs January 31-February 10 at historic Thalian Hall; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm.  $25 with senior, student and group discounts.  For tickets 910/632.2285; thalian.org.
This four-time Tony nominee, inspired by the cult-classic movie starring Olivia Newton-John, follows a Greek muse who descends from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach in 1980.  Her quest to inspire a struggling artist to create the ultimate roller disco is accompanied by such chart-topping hits of the period as “Magic,” “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “Suddenly,” “Dancin’” and “All Around the World.”  The production stars Shannon Playl and Max Korn.
