The Southern Coastal Women’s Club (SCWC) was founded in January 2012. SCWC is an organization of women dedicated to working for our community to help those in need. They are mothers, entrepreneurs, business professionals, concerned citizens, and humanitarians working locally to make a difference by enhancing the life of others through volunteer service.
Since its inception, the members of SCWC have given their time and resources to assist with various activities, including the preparation and delivery for Meals on Wheels recipients on Pleasure Island and southern New Hanover County on a regular basis; the preparation and service of hot meals at Martha’s Kitchen in Carolina Beach on a regular basis; provided a variety of items to the Federal Point Help Center based on its monthly needs; hosted annual dinners for women battling breast cancer with Little Pink Houses of Hope; donated food, money, and clothing to local families that had fallen on hard times; provided Christmas gifts for children of local families in need; participated in the 2012 Beach Sweep; adopted a nest with the Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project; and provided cash donations to the Federal Point Help Center and Pleasure Island Parrot Heads Christmas in July.
