This Week on Pleasure Island

Pleasure Island has another great week of FREE activities for your vacationing and leisure-time fulfillment.  There is always something for everyone on our little slice of paradise. Please plan on joining us for Thursday nights’ FREE concert on August 8th from 6:30 until 9:30 featuring the high energy of the Bibis Ellison Band.   And don’t forget to stay for our fantastic Fireworks show at 9:00 pm (weather permitting).  Come join your family and friends at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk for a night of FREE fun, music and fireworks. The following night, Thee Town of Kure Beach will be presenting “South of K” at the Ft. Fisher Air Force Recreation Area Ocean Front Park from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Don’t forget about Family Night every Tuesday at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk from 6:30-8:30, followed by Cash BINGO at the Gazebo Stage from 7:00-9:00 on Wednesday evenings. Let’s not forget, the very popular Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market held every Saturday from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Carolina Beach Lake.  Also, in case you haven’t heard, Kure Beach Oceann Front Park is offering Monday evening Turtle Talks with the Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project from 7-8 pm;  Kure Beach Open Air Market on Tuesdays from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm; Thursday mornings Story Time By The Sea from 10:00 – 11:30 am, Saturday Family Night featuring Lynne & The Wave from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and then the ever-popular Boogie In The Park featuring Soul, Funk & Classic Rock selections from Dangers of Stereo. To close out the week on Sunday, August 11th, the movie at the Carolina Beach Lake will be the highly acclaimed, animated “Hotel Transylvania” featuring the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg & Kevin James.
The showing will be at 8:45 pm at the Carolina Beach Lake at the corner of South Lake Park Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue.  All movies are weather-dependent, so be sure to call ahead (910-458-8434), if the weather seems threatening to make sure the show will go on.
These films are free and open to the public. Popcorn, candy, soft drinks, cotton candy and other popular concessions are available at reasonable prices. This is a true summer time treat for adults and kids alike. Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world's most famous monsters--Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more--to celebrate his daughter Mavis's 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem--but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.
Please contact the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce if you have questions and don't forget to check out our exciting Pleasure Island Calendar of Events.
