On Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., see Wilmington in a different way – through the lens of a camera. Take a Photo Walk through downtown Wilmington with Cape Fear Museum and Cape Fear Camera Club while you learn creative tips from Cape Fear Camera Club members.
The tour starts and ends at Cape Fear Museum. First, view Impressions of the Lower Cape Fear, an exhibit guest curated by Cape Fear Camera Club members. Impressions features over 100 printed and digital works. It depicts Southeastern North Carolina's history and how the region’s environment has been influenced by the people who have made this place “home.” Then, stroll the streets, snapping photos along the way.
Bring your camera (smart phone, film, point-and-shoot, digital) and your creativity! Participants should be prepared for non-strenuous walking. Exact stops are subject to change, but will include: Bellamy Mansion Museum, Carolina Apartments, First Presbyterian Church, Market Street fountain, and Temple of IsraelYouth are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Photo Walk is $4 for members and $6 for non-members. No RSVP is needed. In case of inclement weather, the program will be rescheduled.
Cape Fear Camera Club members are both amateur and professional photographers who promote and advance the understanding and joy of photography by providing opportunities for education, skill development, picture taking, competition, critique and fellowship.
Cape Fear Museum of History and Science, a department of New Hanover County, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday; September through May. General admission is $7 for adults; $6 for students, senior citizens and military with valid ID; $4 for children 6-17; and free for children 5 and under. Museum members are admitted free. New Hanover County residents’ free day is the first Sunday of each month. The Museum is located at 814 Market Street in historic downtown Wilmington, N.C. More info: capefearmuseum.com.
