The Cape Fear Model Rail Railroad Society is announcing their Holiday Train Expo 2013 will be at 705 South Kerr Ave, Wilmington, NC. Grand opening is Friday, November 29th from 1-6pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 1-6pm. They will be open every Saturday and Sunday through December 22nd. The event will showcase a series of spectacular holiday villages filled with model trains of all kinds running the rail across a large exhibit space.
Originating during the Christmas season at Airlie Gardens, the memorable showcase of model trains and elaborate scenery still draws families, train enthusiasts an holiday-goers from around the region each year.
Visitors will be enchanted by this spectacular display of model trains as they travel across several miles of scale track through a wonderland of villages, parks and landscapes. In addition to the G Scale (garden railroad) exhibits of the past, this year's exhibition includes a newly designed O Scale layout with a larger interactive village that will mesmerize children and adults alike, and a larger HO Scale layout with working rail yard.
The newest layouts on display are ON30 Scale layout and N Scale. "All of the model trains, buildings and scenery are supplied by our members," said Farrell Teague, president of the Cape Fear Model Railroad Society. "We've already started setting up our exhibits. It takes hundreds of man-hours to put a show of this size together. It's our passion and we love being able to share it with so many people during the Christmas season." The Cape Fear Model Railroad Society will also be raffling off two model train sets at the show, just in time for Christmas - an HO Scale and O Scale train set. People can buy raffle tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5. Thousands of people are expected to take in the train expo over it's four week run.
