As we draw closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, this may help us to keep things in perspective -- help us to realize and be thankful for things that really matter.
A Thanksgiving Prayer - by Samuel F. Pugh
Oh, God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a warm home, help me to remember the homeless;
When I am without pain, help me to
remember those who suffer;
And remembering, help me to destroy my
complacency and bestir my compassion.
Make me concerned enough to help,
by word and deed, those who cry out
for what we take for granted.
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food.
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink.
I was a stranger and you welcomed Me ....
Don’t forget our Thanksgiving Family Dinner, which will be held on ThanksgivingDay in our Fellowship Hall. If you face the prospect of spending the holiday alone or are unable to prepare dinner, come and join us. Turkey will be provided, but we ask that you bring a favorite holiday side dish to share. Everyone is welcome, but please make a reservation for planning purposes. Call Anne (520-2710) for more information.
