Just in time for summer, the Pool Protector is a life-saving tool from ICU Tek (http://www.icutek.com) that will greatly assist with protecting children from drowning. The Pool Protector is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds a loud pulsating alarm when children or pets fall into an unsupervised pool. It is portable, self-contained, lightweight, and simple to operate. Entry into the pool is detected by the device's electronic sensor that triggers the alarm at both the pool unit and at the unit's base inside the home.
The Pool Protector is easy to install. It comes with a remote receiver that can be mounted in the home up to 200 feet from the main unit and a 12-volt power supply. It uses two 9-volt batteries (not included) and has an audible low-battery indicator that will also sound at both the poolside unit and the home's inside remote receiver. After installation, the device cannot be de-activated, and remains in the alarm ready mode until it is re-set in sleep mode.
More than 900 children between the ages of 1 and 14 die each year in drowning accidents. In California, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death of children 1-4 years of age. Among children ages 1 to 4 years, most drownings occur in residential swimming pools.
Most young children who drowned in pools were last seen in the home, had been out of sight less than five minutes, and were in the care of one or both parents at the time.
Additionally, as many pools are not covered during the winter months, this makes the Pool Protector a vital necessity year round. To learn more about the Pool Protector, go to http://www.icutek.com
