DaVita, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA) and a leading provider of kidney care services that is committed to improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), has announced that Stop Hunger Now in Wilmington was awarded a grant from the K.T. Community (KTC) Foundation. KTC Foundation, which is funded by DaVita Chairman and CEO Kent Thiry and his wife, Denise O’Leary, provided the grant to Stop Hunger Now for the purchase of materials to assemble 8,000 meal packets.
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world in an effort to realize their vision of a world without hunger. Stop Hunger Now developed a packaging program for volunteers to have a chance to package nutritious dehydrated, high protein meals that are used in crisis situations and in school feeding program for schools and orphanages in developing countries.
“With so many people around the globe lacking access to nutritional meals, we are grateful for an opportunity to help provide for those in serious need, said Ginny Clunan, program coordinator for KTC. “We are proud to support Stop Hunger Now and its efforts to help end World Hunger.”
KTC Foundation benefits charitable programs supported by DaVita® teammates and their families. KTC donates money to non-profit organizations to fund community-based projects that leave a lasting impression on the community. Since its beginning in 2006, the KTC has given more than $273,000 in support of teammate’s charitable projects.
