Island Wellness Market is locally owned and operated, and is the only dedicated health food store on the island. The goal is to help the community achieve optimum health by sharing knowledge on the benefits of quality supplements, holistic therapies, and a healthy lifestyle. Everything in life is about finding balance, and they are here to teach consumers that healthy living does not have to be scary or boring. They help customers achieve their individual wellness through education and taking small steps to detoxify and replenish in order to feel their best and live more fully. Island Wellness is one of the businesses that are participating in the third annual Pleasure Island Shopping Spree on Saturday, Nov. 23. Come in between 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and purchase $10 or more to qualify for a raffle ticket, for every $10 you spend you qualify for a raffle ticket and have the chance to win one of the gift baskets that each participating business is offering.
Also, they will be participating in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, and will be offering special deals and refreshments. This will be a great time, if you have not already, to stop in and check them out.
The market offers hard to find food items that are carried, such as Carb Zero and Paleo breads, gluten free pasta and snacks, organic and GMO free miso and tofu, and various other organic, vegan and raw food items, including the 100 percent plant-based, raw treats from Wilmington's own Kitchen Ahimsa. You will also find an extensive variety of high quality vitamins, herbs and nutritional supplements, including products from Herb Pharm, Nordic Naturals, Bluebonnet, Barlean's, Mega Food, Natural Vitality, KAL, Source Naturals, Himalaya Herbals, and Solaray, among others. In addition to food and supplements, there is a variety of natural health and beauty items, including fluoride free toothpastes, hair care and skin care that is free of harmful chemicals and toxins, therapeutic essential oils, natural insect repellants and sunscreens, and homeopathic health and first aid treatments. There are also various locally made items, including soaps from Three Little Birds, Essential Oil Remedies to Roll and ocean-friendly surf wax from Sambuca Modern Apothecary, soy candles from Atlantic Treasures, jewelry from 1906 Creations, and t-shirts from Organic Lifestyle Apparel (apparel designed to educate, stimulate and motivate people to take better care of our beaches). Island Wellness Market has pet supplements for those furry family members, including Rescue Remedy to help calm anxiety from storms or fireworks, as well as vitamin chews and omega-3 supplements to support healthy joints, a healthy immune system, and healthy skin and coat.
They also offer educational classes and workshops; be on the lookout for a variety of classes to be held in the fall, including Healthy Weight Management, GMO Awareness, and Healthy Immune Defense. They will continue to offer various classes and Reiki clinics for health and well-being and will also hold a holiday open house in December. The market is offering holiday produce baskets which will include organic cranberries, yams, butternut squash, apples, greens, pears and mulling spice. Contact them for order deadline and additional information. The Vegan Potluck for November will be Nov. 21 and will have a holiday Thanksgiving theme, contact them or check out their Facebook page for details.
