WILMINGTON, NC - New Hanover Regional Medical Center has announced that Adam Cook will join the organization on July 31 as Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the NHRMC Foundation.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead such a strong foundation that provides invaluable support to New Hanover Regional Medical Center,” Cook said. “I look forward to working with folks to link their philanthropic interests with the needs of our hospital. My family and I are thrilled to become members of the Wilmington community and I can’t wait to get started!” At the NorthEast Foundation, Cook has been responsible for leading strategic planning and implementation for the organization, including multiple capital campaigns, a $50 million endowment initiative and several planned giving programs. He also has managed the Foundation's budget, prospect identification and solicitation, marketing, and has written and managed more than $7 million worth of grants during his tenure. He leads a department of seven and reports to a 36-member Board of Directors.
"We are excited about Adam's joining us and feel he's going to bring a lot of energy to our Foundation," said John Allen, Chairman of the NHRMC Foundation Board of Directors. "Along with that energy, he's going to bring significant fundraising expertise. We're looking forward to adding him to our excellent Foundation team."
Cook graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and enjoyed a successful career in banking before switching to healthcare development in 2004. He attained Certified Fund Raising Executive status in 2010. He is married with two young children and enjoys swimming, cycling, and lifting weights.
Cook joins an organization that has provided more than $17 million to NHRMC since 1991 to support its patient care programs, purchase equipment and fund staff education. The Foundation raises funds through capital campaigns, annual gifts, corporate and private foundation grants and annual special events such as the Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament, the Founders’ Gala, the Pink Ribbon Events and the Red Dress Events. More than 300 community volunteers contribute to these events.
