Pleasure Island is awakening from being a sleepy little coastal town to being a bustling tourist destination. Kathie Winseck, owner of The Checkered Church located at 800 St. Joseph Street, is ready. She has wrapped up spring cleaning, unpacked many new items and has arranged displays just so to give you some great decorating ideas.
Located off Lake Park Blvd, The Checkered church has scores of whimsical, eclectic and inspiring items for the home or for souvenirs. Just in are Woozies! Made in Greensboro, NC, these decorative neoprene wine glass covers help keep your wine chilled while sitting on the porch. And also new are Botskis. They are decorative bow ties for wine bottles that relay a message, such as “Happy Birthday” or “Let’s Party”.
Welcome family and friends with a beach themed Jellybean mat or beach-up your furniture with a matching pillow. Sometimes adding small, seaside touches to your home décor can turn your home to a paradise retreat. And adding a new lamp or light fixture can help change the entire appearance and character of any room. The Checkered Church has many styles and themes to choose from. For the kitchen, they have dishtowels and other kitchen goodies perfect for expressing your love for the beach. Don’t forget to check out their new ocean and beach shaped cookie cutters. Who could resist taking a bite out of a shark-shaped sugar cookie? They also carry the popular, made in America, Tervis Tumblers. The Checkered Church carries beach themed and nautical themed Tervis designs, great for enjoying your favorite beverage on the beach. They also have an array of culinary products that are unique and fun. They even carry products from the Gullah Gourmet, whose products are featured on the Food Network. Exclusive to the Checkered Church is the Pleasure Island Afghan. The beautiful, triple-weave throw depicts the flavor and heritage that is Pleasure Island. Winseck invites everyone to the historic location of The Checkered Church to check out her new spring merchandize. She points out, too, that many of her gifts are made in the USA.
The Checkered Church is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To find out more about their bountiful selection of home furnishings, gifts and décor, visit their website at www.checkeredchurch.com or call them at (910) 458-0211.
