Brew Thru Brew of the Week: Red Hook Long Hammer IPA

This week Brew Thru of Carolina Beach is pleased to feature Red Hook Long Hammer IPA as the Brew of the Week.  Born out of an old transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, Red Hook was one of America’s first “craft” breweries.  Today Red Hook has breweries in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Woodinville, Washington.  Long Hammer IPA uses dry-hopping, which is the generous addition of hops both during and at the end of the fermentation process.  This gives the Indian Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor.  The medium body, crisp finish, and moderate alcohol levels make this one of America’s most drinkable and best selling IPAs.    Drink Long Hammer IPA with spicy foods such as Cajun/Creole, Indian, Mexican, or Thai, because the hops that are in this brew play well with this style of cuisine.  Stop through the Brew
