Jeremy Linquist is one of the area’s premier acupuncturists. He “has been a licensed acupuncturist since 2008 after graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA. He continued his studies by completing the International TCM Training Program of Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture at the Chengdu University of TCM in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. He has treated patients at the UCSD Sports Medicine RIMAC Center, Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, Vietnam Veterans Stand-Down, San Diego’s Seniors’ Clinic, and San Diego Hospice. He previously had a thriving practice in Encinitas, CA which allowed him the experience with both the insurance aspect and business model of an acupuncture clinic.” Jeremy's passion in treatment is the education of his patients. He believes that we all possess the tools to be as healthy as we like and it is his desire to educate each patient how to achieve their goals. From Pregnancy to Pediatrics, Pain to Orthopedic injuries, and Insomnia to Prevention, Jeremy will work with each patient to develop a treatment plan that suits each individuals needs. Jeremy currently serves as the President of the NCAAOM (North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). He also donates his time and expertise to a variety of community events and educational classes as well as being a Founding Board member of the Island Montessori School.” The community style acupuncture provided by Linquist is not like most acupuncture clinics in the US. Instead this style is more like what you will find widespread in Asia. “Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it’s easy for friends and family members to come in for treatment together; many patients find it comforting; and a collective energetic field becomes established which actually makes individual treatments more powerful. In some styles of acupuncture, the needles are removed after only a few minutes or after a half hour at most. The style of acupuncture we practice at CBCA allows patients to keep their needles in as long as they want, and the “right” amount of time varies from patient to patient.” This method of community style acupuncture also helps to keep overall costs down, which allows CBCA to offer patients a sliding payment scale. The community setting allows the acupuncturist to treat more patients, which in turn keeps the cost of the service low.
The new Island Montessori Charter School in Carolina Beach opened its doors as a nonprofit preschool for children ages 1-6 in August and Pleasure Islanders are already witnessing the benefits of the Montessori approach to learning. Carolina Beach Community Acupunctures own Jeremy Linquist is a Founding Board Member of the school. The Montessori style of teaching “uses a thoughtfully prepared environment to foster independence, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.” Currently there is a School Fundraiser in progress in cooperation with Learning Express Toys in Wilmington. When you visit either of their stores or buy educational toys or games from their website from now until November 9th, they will donate 20% of the purchase to the Island Montessori School. Get your voucher from Carolina Beach Community Acupuncture or the Island Montessori School and present it in store when purchasing or when Shopping online please make sure it says Wilmington in the upper right corner and mention Island Montessori School Fundraiser in the box at checkout.
