Know an up-and-coming entrepreneur or an innovative company in the Cape Fear region? The Coastal Entrepreneur Awards, designed to spotlight just such individuals and companies, are coming up soon. UNCW’s Entrepreneurship Center and the Greater Wilmington Business Journal are looking for businesses that are actively engaged in entrepreneurial activity: creating new products or services for people in this region and beyond. Companies may apply themselves or be nominated by others.
The mission of the Coastal Entrepreneur Awards is to help foster more entrepreneurial activity — and higher paying jobs — in the region. The category winners will be profiled in a special Coastal Entrepreneur Awards section in the April 26 Business Journal and honored at a large awards breakfast in May at UNCW’s Burney Center. In concert with this, the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce also selects a 2013 Pleasure Island Entrepreneur. You may apply for both awards. Any company in New Hanover, Brunswick or Pender counties is eligible for the Coastal Entrepreneur Awards.
There will be two rounds of judging. First, the category winners will be selected by a diverse group of judges representing the competition’s sponsors and other business leaders in the community. Winners will be selected in ten categories: Biotechnology, Film, Health Care, Internet-Related Business, Manufacturing & Distribution, Non-Profit, Retail & Hospitality, Professional Services, Technology,
