Salty Paws Thrift Shop in the Austin Commons Shopping Center has everything a person needs to furnish a rental or decorate own house. There is china and crystal, kitchenware, place settings, lamps, bed linens, curtains, furniture, books, pet goodies and more. Jeannie Mintz and her friendly staff are there to help you find what you need, and are proud to tell you the history behind the store. This is a nonprofit store and the staff volunteers their time. Originally she started out by doing a yard sale and had such a great turnout, she then decided to find a store front to have items available all of the time.
Mintz’ Saving Animals During Disaster organization reaches out to help animals in need even when there is not a disaster. All proceeds from the store go to helping animal rescue organizations that need assistance everywhere.
Everything in the store is donated. So if you are spring cleaning and have items you no longer need or want and they are in salable condition, think about taking them to Salty Paws Thrift Store. You will get a tax deduction for what you donate and they will get something to sell to help animals in need. They accept everything except clothing, computers or exercise equipment. Salty Paws Thrift Shop is located at 5202 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, for information about donating call 910-350-3385. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Jeannie Mintz also hosts the Salty Paws Festival in Carolina Beach in October.
