KURE BEACH – A must stop Italian dining experience is Freddie’s Restaurant. Fred Shambora and Barbara Gargan opened the restaurant in 1995 and is the number one dining house on the island. You can start with appetizers such as spicy mussels or seafood portabella which is a large portabella mushroom stuffed with Barbara’s seafood dip; continue to the main entrée by adding their Firehouse chop and that is Jim’s own pizziola sauce of sautéed peppers, onions and mushrooms tops the chop and is served with melted mozzarella, then end your dinner with Chocolate Lovers Dream Cake. Another perk is Barb’s Salad Dressing; it is made by the owner herself, and is slightly sweet and is infused with fresh herbs and oils. It comes in a pint size mason jar and is sold for $7. You can buy it through their website and the Veggie Wagon carries it also.
The restaurant is steps away from the pier and brings a warm and welcoming feeling to all of its patrons. The authentic Italian menu includes pasta, seafood, chicken, pork chops, veal and steaks and desserts.
