Masonboro Urgent Care is a community based urgent care offering urgent care and primary care services for Southern New Hanover County. They are pleased to announce that they have welcomed a new member to their family, Dr. James Worriax.  Dr. Worriax is a graduate of Meharry Medical College located in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his residency training at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Residency in Family Medicine located here in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he was awarded the first-ever family medicine “Resident of the Year” award.  Worriax then worked at Maple Hill Medical Center for 5 years before joining the team at Masonboro Urgent Care. A native of southeastern North Carolina, Dr. Worriax enjoys spending time with his family and friends, at the Sanctuary Church of Wilmington, fishing, and grilling out.  Dr. Worriax’s goal is to provide quality medical care, without discrimination, to men, women, and children of all ages.  Dr. Worriax lives here in Wilmington with his wife, Jessica, and their children Jayden and Jacob.  Dr. Worriax is also a youth pastor at The Sanctuary of Wilmington.  Dr. Worriax is currently accepting new patients at this time.
Masonboro Urgent Care is our area’s “first choice for health care services. Minor emergencies, from falls and cuts, to sudden illness, colds and flu, can be treated fast and efficiently, usually with minimal wait times.”  With x-ray equipment and an onsite lab they are able to quickly diagnose and treat everything from minor cuts to broken bones or sudden illness.  Their proximity to Pleasure Island and the Monkey Junction area along with a wide breadth of available services makes them a convenient healthcare provider for all of Southern New Hanover County.
They see patients on an open schedule which means that if you are sick, injured or otherwise have a need for a medical provider today; you will be seen today no matter what your problem.  Average appointment time is around 10 minutes with an average wait of just about 20 minutes.
“We will assess and stabilize patients with sprains, strains, fractures, respiratory tract infections, ear aches, lacerations, or any other problem that you might present with.
However for serious illnesses or injuries we may refer you to specialists, or the emergency or even start iv’s and oxygen while we wait for the ambulance to transport you to the emergency. Because we can do iv‘s, and get basic lab tests and x-rays in our office we can have the results available within minutes. For this reason we can also treat a broader spectrum of illness and injuries without the patient having to leave the facility than most doctor’s offices and urgent cares. This of course helps keep the costs down and makes it much more convenient of our patients.”  Masonboro Urgent Care offer a long list of available services to their patients including family medicine care, diagnostic testing, and occupational and workman’s comp services, for everyone in your family from the infants to the adults.  Their diagnostic capabilities include services like, x-rays, EKG, labs, vision screening, school physicals and much more.  With digital x ray and lab facilities on site most emergency blood work, labs and x rays can be done right in the office and results made available during your appointment.  Masonboro Urgent Care asks that physical exams be scheduled ahead of time.  They offer routine blood work services on Wednesdays.  They consider themselves as well a “pit stop” for healthy people to receive care to continue to remain healthy as they live their busy lifestyle.  Masonboro Urgent Care will get you in, get your situation assessed and have you on the mend quickly.
Masonboro Urgent Care stresses the practice of urgent care but is now taking on non-complex primary care patients as well.  These are patients that can be seen comfortably in a 10 minute urgent care time slot.  This is a huge help to those who usually find themselves sitting in their primary care office for hours waiting for an appointment that is over within minutes.  Please give them a call if you are looking for a primary care provider for you or your family and feel that your lifestyle would be best served by primary care delivered in this format.  Call today for more details on how they can serve you in this manner.
As they do every year, Masonboro Urgent Care will be holding a holiday giveaway.  This year’s drawing will be for an Apple Ipad Mini and the winner will be drawn on December 21st, just in time for Christmas!  Everyone is welcomed to enter the giveaway even if you aren’t a patient of Masonboro Urgent Care.  Just stop in and meet them and they will gladly enter your name in the drawing!
