Pop’s Diner reopened on February 1st to the delight of many hungry patrons who have been craving the wonderful food in their favorite shiny diner!  Pop’s utilized their downtime this winter to take on some remodeling ideas like the new color scheme and a brilliant new floor that is completely covered in 50’s and 60’s memorabilia including albums, baseball cards, photos of celebrities and much more to pay tribute to one of the greatest eras in history.  Enjoying a meal at Pop’s is a unique experience on the Island and the food is reason enough to come back again and again.  Pop’s has become a staple on the Island, a favorite of locals and visitors alike who can’t get enough of their delicious food and friendly service.
Pop’s Diner is famous for their burgers.  They do it all from your favorite real beef cheeseburgers to turkey burgers and even veggie burgers.  Load it up with your favorite toppings for the perfect taste every time.  All of their burger patties are 5oz and you can get a double, a triple or even a quadruple “Big Boy” special.  All of their hamburgers are pattied by hand each and every morning and then cooked when you order for the best burger time and time again.  Every meal at Pop’s should start with one of their awesome appetizers like their wings which come smothered in your choice from a variety of sauces, the bacon cheese fries, or even the fried pickles.  New to the starters section of the menu this year are the “Mary’s Mac-n-Cheese Bites” which is a combo basket of smoked gouda and pepperjack bites, “Patty’s Buffalo Chicken Empanadas” and “Buddy Ro’s Soft Pretzel” with your choice of cheese or mustard.  For the main course Pop’s offers burgers, hot dogs, “sammiches,” dinner baskets and more.  They offer 6 and 12 inch subs, po boys, and even a variety of sandwiches served on your choice of Texas toast or a bun.  Try a tried and true local favorite like the “Rosemary’s beef brisket.”  Unlike any sandwich you will find on the Island this one is loaded with slow cooked beef brisket, pepperjack cheese, a chipotle BBQ sauce and slaw.  It is a real treat for the brisket fans!  Other “sammiches” that have garnered rave reviews  are the Pop Pop’s BBQ,  Puffpuffs Rueben, J.C’s Cuban, Daddy D’s Roast ?Beef and of course the newly added “Helen’s Soft Shell Crab Sammich.”  If you are looking for a larger meal go with any of their dinner baskets which include options like fried shrimp, homemade crab cakes, and flounder.  Newly added to their Dinner basket selection are some must try items like the “Fried Chicken and Waffles,” the “Shrimp and Grits,” the Soft Shell Crab basket, the Taco basket and more.  Pop’s is always trying to give their patrons exactly what they want and their new menu additions reflect their commitment to their customers.  Add some sides to any order like fries or onion rings or go with something special like the fresh cut sweet potato fries or the “deep fried sweet corn on the cob.”  No matter what you decide on you will always be pleased.  If you have room after your meal (highly unlikely if you ordered the Quadruple burger!) then you must try out one of Pop’s sweet treats from their famous dessert menu.  They still offer their famous floats and brownie sundaes and their own staples like the “Puffy’s fried Oreos” or the “Campbell’s Fried Twinkies aka Cloud Cake” but they have also added some new desserts that are sure to please like “Granny’s Apple Pie,” “Amy’s Strawberry Shortcake,” “Blade’s Frozen Cheesecake” and “Mommy D’s Mud Pie.”  At Pop’s there is always something to satisfy a sweet tooth!
Pop’s family owned and operated diner is located in the heart of Carolina Beach at 104 North Lake Park Boulevard.  Pop’s Diner is currently open every day of the week.  They run daily specials and still have their fresh made soups on the menu.  Throughout the remainder of the month of February you can dine in or call in an order on Mondays through Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Look for Pop’s to extend their hours as we approach the spring and summer months and in March they plan to restart their late night hours on Saturdays.  If you would like to find out more or if you would like to call in an order you can reach Pop’s diner at (910) 458-7377.  Become a fan of Pop’s on Facebook to receive the latest updates on everything happening at Pop’s this summer.
