Spotlight On Coastal Cuisine: Island Hots: Hot Dogs and More

Located on Cape Fear Boulevard near the Carolina BeachBoardwalk, Island Hots resides in a building that has long been known as theplace to get hot dogs, but they came in and completely revamped the venue addedtheir personal touch to everything from the menu to the beautiful outdoorseating area, and made Island Hots an insanely popular attraction forbeachgoers, boardwalkers and anyone else who craves a delicious hot dog madejust how they like it!
Island Hots officially opened in March of 2012 but there wasa lot of work put in before they were unveiled to the public.  Not only did they redo the interior andexterior of the building, they also completely redid the huge outdoor seatingarea turning it into a beautiful masterpiece of landscaping for the Boardwalkarea and a popular vantage point for the weekly fireworks throughout thesummer.
While the location is attractive in its own right the realreason people flock to Island Hots on a daily basis is the delicious food andexcellent service.  Island Hots specialtyis their huge selection of hot dogs that are available in a variety of stylesincluding longtime favorites, Island Hots own creations or just how you want itwith any and all of your favorite toppings.
Start with your choice of hot dog from the selection oforiginal, all beef, turkey or vegetarian and then pick your “Island Favorite”like the “Bacon-Cheese and mustard” or the “Carolina Dog.”  Get adventurous and try something new everytime or be creative and concoct your own specialty dog! Their famous IslandRelish is a spicy treat that you may want on every hot dog you ever eat againin your life!
If you’re not in the mood for a hot dog then try somethingelse off the menu like their crispy chicken tenders or the loaded nachos withchili, cheese, jalapenos, mild salsa and onions.  Make a meal by adding one of their sides likebeer battered onion rings, chips or natural cut fries.  If a huge and monstrous meal then you shouldorder the “Island Plate.”
The “Island Plate” is a large helping of fried potatoes andmacaroni salad topped with two original hot dogs then smothered in Island Hotsown Rochester chili, diced onions, mustard and served with a dinner roll.  If you have room for dessert try their oldfashioned soft serve ice cream or cookies.
Wash it all down with a root beer float or your favoritecold beer!   Like any establishment with“dog” in the name should be, Island Hots is dog friendly and welcomes yourfurry friends to hang out and enjoy the outdoor seating area.
