“Beer is Love” and no one knows this better than the Fat Pelican in Carolina Beach.  The Fat Pelican, also known as the “the Fat P”, the “Pelican” and all sorts of other nicknames by its adoring patrons is one of the very best watering holes the Island has to offer and has been serving up good times since they first opened in 1986.  With unmatched character, atmosphere, people and awesome events throughout the year, the Fat Pelican is one of Pleasure Island’s favorite attractions that must be experienced by all locals and visitors.

 The Fat Pelican serves a variety of beers and wines but the true sight to be seen is their massive “Beer Cave,” a walk-in beer cooler that is stocked to the ceiling with a massive offering of more than 350 different beers.  From imports to domestics you may have never even heard of, the Fat Pelican’s Beer Cave is a beer lover’s dream come true. One of the Fat Pelican’s greatest features is “Pelican Beach” which is situated behind the building.  Walk through the bar, grab a cold drink and head out of the back door to enter and enclosed “beach” with tables, chairs and tons of sand.  Everyone loves hanging out on the beach and the Fat Pelican obliges while also allowing you the ease of grabbing your favorite drinks just a few steps from the sand.  Pelican beach is located in the back, where customers can enjoy their drinks outside with friends, listen to music, and have their toes in the sand!  The Fat Pelican is by far an establishment that has to be experienced to gain a full appreciation for why it is so loved by the regulars.  From the atmosphere inside the to the great times out back at Pelican Beach the Fat Pelican is a one of a kind bar that everyone will love. The Fat Pelican is open from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 A.M. on Mondays through Saturdays and they are open from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 A.M. on Sundays.
