Spotlight On Business: Browse, trade, relax or purchase a book at Island Book Shop

 Island Book Shop is at 100 N. Lake Park Blvd., Unit 1, Carolina Beach. Summer hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The Island Book Shop’s owner, Jenny Hamm, is still making the store the best experience that a customer to have while shopping for a book to read. The atmosphere is quiet, not library quiet but a quiet and relaxed for the person who is browsing for a good book to read. There were a lot of books written by local artists this year; a lot offering fiction     `stories. Those books are sorted together and grouped by the subject type to make it easy to find what you are looking for. The used books are alphabetized and sorted to make it easy to locate the author that you enjoying reading.
She is going to expand on the Love Bucket idea, which is a $2 romance book bin, by including mystery books, and other versions of themed books. Hamm has expanded the children’s section and added new coloring and activity books. The activities books include the crayons and items needed to complete the activity. She will also soon offer large posters that your youngsters can decorate themselves. She has the books written by Suzanne Tate, which are stories that teach the children about an animal, its environment and tucked in the story is a lesson.
She also will help by offering recommendations on what you are looking for to read. She loves helping her customers. Whether you are a person who likes reading an epic story, or just needing a quick read, she will help you find that special book just for your needs.
During the off-season she will be offering specials; such as an alphabet sale which will be a sale on all authors whose name begins with “C” and so on. Give a review on a book that you have read, and it will be displayed for the other customers to read the opinion of another reader. She will offer credit toward a purchase of a used book. Like the Island Book Shop page on Facebook to take advantage of the specials and events she will be offering. She will also hang the announcement on the door to keep customers informed.
During November and December she will once again offer 25 percent off gift certificates, just in time for holiday gift giving. The certificate will not be able to be used at the time of the purchase you will need to come back to use it.
Hamm still offers a trade-in policy that is, for every three paperbacks you bring in you will be able to choose a paperback and that also applies to hardback books; every three you bring in you can choose one. She also accepts audio books. In addition to the friendly relaxed environment, she also offers fax, copier and scanning services.  She carries stationery, which is made from all recycle materials. The journals are made of tree-free materials. She also offers cards from local artists and has added magnets and postcards.
