The Veggie Wagon is a locally family owned produce company that specializes in delivery of fresh local North Carolina fruits, vegetables and homemade products to the Carolina Beach, Wilmington, Kure and Wrightsville Beaches. April Sussman and her husband, Max, travel to all the local farms and small batch producers to bring you the freshest items the state has to offer. You will also find baked goods, cheeses, eggs, coffee, dressings, sauces, dry rubs and seasonings, jams, jellies, meats, milk, pasta, pickled products, salsas, herbs, healthy snacks in additional to produce. They make their own ice cream and also offer candles and aromatics. “Wine Down” Fridays is every Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. Sample locally handcrafted microbrews and staff wine favorites. Each week, the wines and beers will rotate, and during these events they will also be sampling out fresh Veggie Wagon goodies.
They are now stocking local oysters from the Wrightsville Beach area daily. They are available by the peck, half bushel and full bushel. All orders must be pre-paid for and can be placed by calling the Veggie Wagon. They also offer all natural, free range chicken arriving along with lots of dry aged, all natural beef. This will most likely be their last cow until after the first of the year, so be sure to stock up for the holidays. For all your holiday needs, do not forget that the Veggie Wagon offers a 10 percent case discount on all their wines. If you are looking for a wine in particular that they do not carry, they can always special order it for you. Speaking of holiday drinks, they now have eggnog from Maple View Farm in Hillsborough, it is all natural, hormone and antibiotic free. The eggnog comes in a recyclable glass jug and comes in either quart or half gallon sizes. Look for the Veggie Wagon at Kure Beach’s holiday market Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is also Shop Small and Local weekend what a great way to support your local businesses. The non-organic CSA basket you will find apples, broccoli, zucchini, green kale, cabbage, potatoes, salad mix, butternut and acorn squash and more; the organic basket you will find the salad mix, cabbage, butternut squash, broccoli, acorn squash, apples, green kale, potatoes and more. All you need to do is visit the Veggie Wagon’s website to place your order, they just ask that all orders are in by noon on Wednesday. Remember, they can be delivered.
