Protect Yourself from Fraud and Scams: Are You Protected?

[Southeastern NC] Seniors are increasingly the target of Frauds and Scams via phone internet, mail and in-person. The public is invited to learn how to avoid being a victim at a FREE event, “Modern Times, Modern Crimes”: Are You Protected?  
Presented by The Cape Fear Elder Abuse Prevention Network, the event will be held on Tuesday, March 4th, 2014 at Scott’s Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scott’s Hill Loop Road.  
Registration begins at 8:15 AM.  A Light Breakfast and Lunch are included.  
Featured will presentations by Federal, State and Local Officials including Secretary of State, Elaine Marshall; the United States Postal Service, Representatives from North Carolina State Offices of the Attorney General, Department of Insurance, Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, Division of Aging & Adult Services, Better Business Bureau and Social Services as well as local District Attorneys, Benjamin David and Jonathan David.  A Panel Discussion concludes the event featuring Representatives from area Sheriff’s offices, Adult Protective Services of Departments of Social Services,  and Financial Institutions.  Registration is required by February 28th by contacting Janeen Padavich at 395-4553, extension 205 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
