Update: Monday August 6: The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office along with additional emergency
response agencies have located the body of the missing 13 year old boy from Snow's Cut near the Carolina Beach State Park.
Shandon Tyre Wright Jr. a 13 year old black male was found about a mile south of Snow's Cut. Shortly after 9:00 am this morning, August 6, emergency personnel located the victim in the water near Sugar Loaf sand dune in Carolina Beach State Park.
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office started searching for Wright at Snows Cut on Saturday. Shortly after 1:40 pm Saturday Deputies were dispatched to assist in searching for a 13 year old boy who was swimming in Snows Cut with his family.
The 13 year old boy was swimming and fishing with his mother, father and 3 year old brother. According to witnesses the three year old was in distress in the water, when the father retrieved the 3 year old from the water he noticed that the 13 year old was missing. Multiple emergency personnel agencies responded and began searching for the 13 year old. A Unified Command was established with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office assuming command. The search became a recovery operation late Saturday. Emergency
personnel continued to search for the missing 13 year old until dark. At dark the search was discontinued and resumed at 7:30 am Sunday. Following search efforts Sunday, Wright was recovered this morning. Additional Information will be released as it becomes available.
