Income Tax Prep Volunteers Needed

NEW HANOVER CTY - The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, sponsored by the New Hanover County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for volunteers 55 and older to prepare income tax returns for low to moderate income taxpayers.
Volunteers receive extensive IRS approved training and IRS certification.
You will be taught basic to advance tax strategies, tax law and how to use the IRS software.  Self study training begins in November and December.
A week of classroom training follows in January.  Tax preparation begins on February 1, 2013.
This is an opportunity to learn a new skill and assist people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
Volunteer days and hours are flexible. VITA is a volunteer free tax assistance program for people with low to moderate income, elderly, disabled and limited English speaking people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.  If you would like to learn more about VITA and how you can become a VITA volunteer, call Valerie Smith, RSVP –VITA Coordinator at 910-798-6406 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots.
