UPDATE: Carolina Beach Council Submits Names Of Candidates For Mayor, Council Seat Appointments; Interviews At Dec. 11 Meeting

The Carolina Beach Town Council has submitted names of candidates to be interviewed for appointment to the Mayor's seat and a council seat at their December 11, meeting.

UPDATE : Monday Dec. 10th: The following are the names submitted by council members to the Town Clerk to be called to the December 11, meeting at 5:30PM at Town Hall. These candidates will be interviewed in an open meeting. Council will then make a decision on appointing two people to fill the vacant mayor and council seat.

CAROLINA BEACH - The Carolina Beach Town Council will interview top candidates from a pool of 16 people who applied for appointment to the vacancies for Mayor and a Council seat at 5:30PM at Town Hall on December 11. They will meet prior to that at 4:30PM for a closed session meeting.

Councilman Steve Shuttleworth said Friday December 7, the Council will interview four or five of the 16 applicants at the Tuesday special meeting and likely make a final decision the following Tuesday during another special meeting. However, a press release issued by the Town notes the, "Appointments are expected to be made during the regular meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m." the same day.

The council is also scheduled to hold their regular monthly meeting on December 11, starting at 6:30PM.

The following is a list of people who submitted letters of interest for appointment to the Carolina Beach Town Council. Earlier this month Mayor Ray Rothrock and Councilman Lonnie Lashley resigned following the resignation of Town Manager Tim Owens. Now Council members Steve Shuttleworth, Bob Lewis and Sarah Friede will decide which of the following 16 applicants will fill those two vacant seats.
