Two people sold crack-cocaine to a plain-clothes detective while still wearing their Town of Wrightsville Beach sanitation uniforms.
CAROLINA BEACH - The Carolina Beach Police Department recently encountered two drug related cases resulting in multiple arrests. On November 29, officers and detectives arrested Laraun Derik Moultrie, a.k.a "YG", and William Evans Bryant IV, both of Reigelwood, NC during a plain-clothes narcotics operation.
A plain-clothes detective with the Carolina Beach Police Department purchased $680.00 worth of crack-cocaine and marijuana at a motel on Carolina Beach Avenue North.
The suspects delivered the narcotics to the plain-clothes detective and both Moultrie and Bryant were wearing Town of Wrightsville Beach sanitation uniforms during delivery.
According to Carolina Beach Police Chief Kurt Bartley, patrol officers stopped the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of North Lake Park Blvd after the purchase was complete.
Patrol officers arrested both suspects which were still wearing the Town of Wrightsville Beach sanitation uniforms and were transported to the Carolina Beach Police Department.
Moultrie was placed on a $7,500 secured bond for the charges of Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Sell/Deliver a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and maintaining a vehicle for the Use/Sale of a Controlled Substance.
Bryant was placed on a $3,000 secured bond for possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Crack-cocaine, and Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
In a separate case, on December 7, officers and detectives arrested Reginald Wayne Hawes of Glenarthur Drive in Wilmington, NC and Misty Renee Duncan of Coras Grove Road in Willard, NC, with narcotics violations stemming from a citizen complaint.
At around 10:40 that night officers received a call to the Microtel Inn on North Lake Park Blvd in reference to a strong odor of marijuana coming from room 118. Officers and detectives arrived on scene and noticed the smell filling the bottom floor of the motel. Officers knocked on the door to room 118 and made contact with Hawes. Hawes failed to comply with officer’s instructions and a brief struggle ensued. During the struggle Hawes was attempting to hide multiple grams of cocaine. Detective's and officers located a total of seven grams of cocaine, money, scales and a small amount of marijuana.
Hawes was arrested for Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell and Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken to the Carolina Beach Police Department and placed on a $4,000 secured bond. Duncan was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released with a citation.
