WILMINGTON, N.C. - Weather permitting, the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will have intermittent overnight closures of no more than 5 minutes at a time on Saturday March 16 and Sunday, March 17 from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.
The closures are necessary because of filming scheduled to be done at Dram Tree Park, near the base of the bridge, which carries U.S. 17/74/76/421. During the intermittent bridge closures, lights on the bridge will be turned off and then turned back on when filming ends.
During filming for the feature film “The Remaining,” the parking lot of the boat ramp near the bridge will be filled with tents to give it the appearance of a military station. Casey La Scala is directing the PG-13 movie.
Motorists should plan for extra time crossing the bridge during those nights and use caution in the area.
