CAROLINA BEACH - The Carolina Beach Town Council welcomed their new Parks and Recreation Director during their July 16th, meeting.
Jelinski comes to Carolina Beach from Chattanooga, TN where he worked as Assistant Director for their Recreation Division including Recreation Center and Programs.
On Thursday July 18, Jelinski reached out to department employees in an email stating, "First of all I want to thank each of you for
welcoming me to the Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation team! My first week has been awesome and is going by so quickly. You can easily see how passionate you all are about what we do. I am looking forward to working with such an enthusiastic staff!"
He explained, "My short term goal is to learn as much as possible about the operations of the Parks and Recreation Department. I plan on learning all the details of the front desk and park areas we maintain. I’ll be asking a lot of questions, so please bear with me. In the near future, I’d like to set aside a couple shifts to work behind the front desk. Another project I’ll be working on with Tim is updating our master plan. There will be an opportunity for everyone to be involved in this \project. It’s going to be a lot of work, but very beneficial and exciting."
Jelinski explained, "I believe I have mentioned this to all of you already, but I really like to be involved in all parts of the department. If there is ever a program, project, or if you need a hand at the front desk, please let me know. I’m more than willing to help. If you need me for any reason, please do not hesitate to call me."
Jelinski formerly served as Parks and Recreation Director at Beech Mountain, NC and worked in Brunswick County which is when he discovered Carolina Beach.
