Chambers 20th Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival Draws Huge Crowds
This past Saturday and Sunday mark the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce’s 20th Annual Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival. This year’s headliner Mr. Buddy Guy did not disappoint as the legendary Blues Icon played for well of 4,000 spectators. The two day festival featured thirteen other blues and jazz groups on two stages including Wet Willie, The Slide Brothers and Randall Bramblett all compliments of Bryant Real Estate and the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce at the beautiful Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area. In addition to award winning music festival attendees enjoyed an awesome food selection including Michael’s Seafood’s Award winning chowder, sushi, pizza, peanuts, popcorn, Italian ice and everyone’s fair favorites like fried pickles, funnel cakes wraps, pitas and more! Both Silver Coast Winery and Noni Bacca Winery served up an awesome selection of local wines.
The one thing that was missing this year ‘s event was “Wilmington’s Grandfather of Blues” Mr. Charlie Lucas who has been having medical difficulties. Other local blues artist will be holding a fundraiser to benefit him at the Rusty Nail on October 20th starting at 7:30pm. For more info follow the Rusty Nail on Facebook.
Special thanks to all of this year’s sponsors, organizers and volunteers for making the festival a huge success! For more information on the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce like how to join or upcoming events visit them online at www.pleasureislandnc.org or follow them on Facebook!
