Carolina Beach Officer Chris Spivey Receives Letter Of Commendation From District Attorney Ben David

CAROLINA BEACH - On November 12, 2012, John Colville was hit and killed by a drunk driver on Carolina Beach Road. Mr. Anthony Thompson was the driver and has recently pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and was sentenced to a minimum of 19 years in prison. Lt. District Attorney, Ben David, has written a letter of commendation crediting Lt. Spivey for being instrumental in tracking Mr. Thompson’s moves prior to the collision on November 4, 2012. Lt. Spivey was nominated for a “Service Above Self” award with the Wilmington Rotary Club that recognizes all law enforcement, Fire and EMS personnel within the surrounding areas for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Lt. Spivey was presented with the award on November 12, 2013 in a public ceremony by the Wilmington Rotary Club.
