Upcoming Kure Beach Utility Burial Project

KURE BEACH - The Town of Kure Beach will remove electric power and telephone poles and bury utilities in two areas starting in December.
1.  Atlantic Avenue from K to L Avenue (Ocean Front Park and Seven Seas Motel area)
2.  K Avenue, east of Fort Fisher Boulevard (businesses and pier area)
On K Avenue, the sidewalks will be removed and replaced and the street will be resurfaced.
Two parking spaces will be removed from the center lane of parking to allow for placement of an above ground transformer. Decorative lighting will be added to replace existing streetlights. Landscaped areas will be added on K Avenue.
Some trench work will begin in late December with the bulk of the work occurring in January and February 2014. Businesses will remain open during this time and the Town will work to ensure at least one lane of K Avenue is open to traffic at all times. There will be minimal impact to traffic flow on Atlantic Avenue.
