NEW HANOVER CTY - New Hanover County residents are invited to register for upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training which begins February 6, 2014. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 p.m. for seven weeks, with a disaster simulation exercise on the final day of class, Saturday, March 22, 2014. All classes will be conducted at Cape Fear Community College's Safety Training Center, Room 116, 4500 Blue Clay Road, Castle Hayne, North Carolina.
CERT training is designed to provide basic training in disaster preparedness, which increases the ability of citizens to survive and assist their family and neighbors until responders or other assistance arrives. Courses include; Emergency Preparedness, Fire and Life Safety, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism.
