Hazardous Weather Continues; NWS Weather Forecast

Hazardous weather conditions continue in Southeastern North Carolina Wednesday February 12th. In New Hanover County freezing rain has caused layers of ice to form on trees and power lines. Power outages have been reported in the Wilmington and Leland areas. Road conditions have led to numerous auto accidents across the area. Law enforcement urges the public only to travel if necessary. Crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation have treated area bridges with a salt brine solution to control ice forming on roadways.
 
This afternoon: Rain or freezing rain before 3pm, then freezing rain between 3pm and 4pm, then rain after 4pm. High near 36. Breezy, with a northeast wind around 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain. Low around 36. Breezy, with a northeast wind 14 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New pre...cipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Thursday: A chance of rain or drizzle, mainly between 7am and 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 46. West wind 15 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 35. West wind 9 to 17 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday Sunny, with a high near 53.
